Psalm 67
It is so striking the reason WHY the Psalmist asks for blessing in this Psalm. It isn’t just for the benefit, but so all the nations will see how good God is and praise Him in response. This is challenging — I want blessings so that I am happy. How do things look different if I instead seek even the good things God gives me for the sake of more people knowing Him?
Psalm 68
What a wonderful reminder that God is the God of all peoples. While in the Old Testament times, his work was focused on Israel, it was always so that all the nations would someday come and praise Him. Thus, too, today, we shouldn’t stay content with just tending to God’s present people, but seeing more of the people outside our walls growing to know whom it is that has constructed the universe.
